Don Haugen is a composer, sound experimenter, visual artist, and professional graphic designer based in Eugene, Oregon, USA. Since the late 1980s he started working with cassette tapes, sine oscillators, mixer feedback, contact mics, and more. Haugen’s current work focuses on home built electronics and re-purposed vintage test instruments to create sonic texture-scapes.
Haugen has had the opportunity to perform throughout the western United States; participating in festivals such as the Splinter Squid Festival (Seattle, WA), NorCal Noise Festival (Sacramento, CA), Eugene Noise Festival, Denver Noise Festival, Noisepollenation (Los Angeles, CA), Portland Noise Festival, Godwaffle Noise (San Francisco, CA), and several live radio performances and West Coast tours.
His recordings have been released on Belief Mower, Dumpster-Score, Eerie Materials, Human Monster, Control Valve, Roil Noise Offensive, Ratskin, Brise-Cul, Dolor Del Estamago, Obscurica, Enterruption, and Obfuscated Records. He has composed for performance artists, sound installations, film, and ensembles. Haugen is curator and founder of the Eugene Noise Festival, which started in 2005 and continues today.
